TWO BEDROOM CHAIRS
__________________

These two chairs came from my favourite house clearance shop and were a sad pair. What attracted me to them, other than the price of a few pounds, was the carved back and drop in seats, which are so much easier to re-cover.

I wiped them with white spirit, simply because I like to think I am starting with a clean slate.  I painted them with two coats of Annie Sloan Old White, and when dry, did some gentle distressing with fine sandpaper.  Then I waxed them with Annie Sloan Clear Wax, using a cloth. After buffing, the frames were done. I then stripped the seat frames, re-webbed them, and used the original padding, before recovering in some silk fabric rescued from curtains my daughter gave to me. There was still enough fabric to make five cushions for the bed and sofa in our largest guest room which is where one of the chairs will live.  The other one is on a landing.
